Where is your treasure?

A recent blog we posted was based around the saying ‘Home is Where The Heart Is’ and the fact that in the Bible God has made an offer, to anyone who is interested, of a true everlasting home.

This is something that so many people today are striving for and would treasure.

In fact the pursuit of ‘treasure’ can be all consuming for many in our society. This can include those just barely getting by, all the way through to some who have more than they could ever need or use in many lifetimes!

The Bible has a different perspective. In the book of Matthew it says: “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” (Matt 6:21 NLT)

There’s more advice in the same chapter. Verses 19 & 20 read, “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.” (Matt 6:19-20 NLT)

And here’s the best part. Again in the same chapter we read: “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matt 6:31-33 NLT)

If that sounds like the sort of treasure you’re interested in, grab a Bible and check it out!
