Cleanliness

When Covid hit we were all strongly reminded of basic hygiene processes – washing hands, wearing masks and going into quarantine if we were infectious. These principles of hygiene are just another small proof that the Bible is true and that God exists – because God gave instructions in these matters to the Jews thousands of years before they were understood by mankind. A good example of this can be found in the Bible by reading through Leviticus chapters 14 &15.

I think most of us have heard the saying “Godliness is next to cleanliness.” It’s uncertain who first coined it, but it pretty well sums up how God wants us to be. It’s about more than just basic hygiene. Ultimately, God wants us to be immortal beings, energised by His spirit and sharing a close relationship with Him.The first step in this process is to be baptised into the saving name of Jesus Christ. The Bible describes this as having our sins washed away (cleansed), so we can actually become part of God’s family!

When speaking to the Corinthians about the type of behaviours that God doesn’t like, the Apostle Paul wrote:

“There was a time when some of you were just like that but now your sins are washed away, and you are set apart for God; and He has accepted you because of what the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you.” (1Corinthians 6:11 TLB)

When the Apostle John was contrasting those who believe in God against those who don’t, he wrote:

“See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know Him.” (1John 3:1 NLT)

God is offering all of us an amazing gift and the Bible contains the information.

The question is - are you interested?
